In a time when more and more people are becoming aware of the impact they have on the environment through daily living activities like driving or what is involved in the generation of the energy they need to use, the U.S. continues to lag behind in switching over to renewable energy technology from the older fossil-fuel based ones we are currently using. Slowly but surely the North American consumer is turning to wind energy to try and find ways to tap into renewable power and take advantage of the technology geared toward utilizing wind power.
The U.S. House of Representatives has signed legislation that is hoped will save American energy consumers between $1 billion and $2 billion per year between the years 2012 and 2042. This same legislation will provide for monetary incentives to private individuals and businesses that install a clean, renewable energy source like that provided by wind generators. The American Wind Energy Association provides listings of prospective employers currently looking for employees in the wind energy industry.
On the public front, two surprising candidates in the arena of wind
power institute are the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Department of Labor. The DOL has estimated that the need for qualified personnel in all facets of wind technology is likely to show a growth rate of about 30% per year as the American public moves toward utilizing the renewable energy source that wind provides. Experts have already reported in the media that during 2008 over half of the small wind generation systems installed on a worldwide basis were installed in the U.S. alone.
In light of the lack of qualified technical personnel, getting a green job offered by companies in the industry is expected to give unprecedented job security for now and the foreseeable future.
